  • Ultimate Fall Foliage Road Trip Guide

    Fall Foliage Treasure

For the first time, I am dedicating myself fully to preparing for this trip. Initially, Google AI assisted me in identifying the peak foliage along the eastern coast. Although I am uncertain about my timing, I have committed to a month-long stay, and the website indicates that the fall foliage peaks occur from late September to mid-October. Consequently, my timing is optimal, and I am optimistic about the experience.

My journey involves a lengthy drive from Maryland to New Jersey, where I will spend a day. Subsequently, I will proceed to Connecticut, embarking on a guided tour of the Essex train and steam. This tour offers a panoramic view of the picturesque landscape of Connecticut.

Moving on to Rhode Island, I have decided to extend my stay as recommended by Google AI. Rhode Island, the smallest state in the United States located in New England, is aptly referred to as the “Ocean State” due to its extensive coastline. The capital city is Providence, and the state is renowned for its maritime history and the historic mansions in Newport.

Rhode Island offers a diverse range of attractions, including state parks, charming beaches, panoramic harbor views, natural beauty, lighthouses, mansions, museums, and guided tours on land and sea. Recognizing the abundance of offerings, I have chosen to extend my stay in Rhode Island to allow for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Proceeding to Berkshire, Massachusetts, a city renowned for its cultural attractions and picturesque townscape. Massachusetts boasts a scenic portion of the Appalachian Mountain system, encompassing Mount Greylock, the highest elevation within the state. This majestic peak promises to provide an unparalleled photographic backdrop.

En route to Kancamagus Highway, renowned for its 34.5-mile scenic Byway, I anticipate encountering its rich history, captivating natural beauty, and the elusive “Fall Foliage” treasure. This destination boasts majestic landscapes, picturesque views, hiking trails, cascading waterfalls, and the awe-inspiring Rocky Gorge, among many other attractions.

In my online research, I identified several reputable accommodations with scenic bedroom views, ranging in price from $200 and up to $2,000. Many of these establishments offer complimentary breakfast and/or restaurant access. Notably, all of the accommodations I selected offer complimentary parking and Wi-Fi connections. Depending on your budget and preferences, there are numerous options available.

After conducting thorough research, I have identified several parks that provide complimentary parking and free admission. However, other parks impose a nominal fee. These findings were obtained through online research, and with this information in mind, I am confident that I will have a smooth and enjoyable trip.

Would you follow the route that I have undertaken? I trust you will. If you are reading this, I hope it will be of assistance in your foliage plan trip. I will be posting much of the images taken as I travel on my website @ maristrakerpixel.com

  • Exploring San Diego: Top Attractions and Hidden Gems

San Diego, a vibrant city on California’s Pacific coast, offers a rich cultural heritage and numerous attractions. Despite its beaches and landscapes, San Diego provides diverse experiences for all interests.

I spent two weeks exploring San Diego’s most famous landmarks, including the iconic Balboa Park. Balboa Park is a true gem, renowned for its museums, lush gardens, and architectural marvels inspired by colonial revival. The intricate detailing of the buildings, many of which evoke Spanish baroque architecture, showcases the city’s commitment to preserving its historical legacy.

As a photographer, I meticulously captured Balboa Park’s rooftop to ground floor. Remarkably, buildings constructed in the 1860s are preserved, with some restored to their original state in the 1960s. The surrounding Alcazar Garden, with its well-manicured landscaping and vibrant colors, appealed to my preferences.

The Botanical Garden Building houses a diverse collection of plants, including succulents, rare orchids, and beautiful flowers. After exploring the museums and buildings, I spent another two hours in the tranquil Friendship Japanese Garden. Its simple, elegant, and meticulously maintained landscape features flowing waterfalls, bridges that connects to another garden with pond and swimming around are healthy-looking Koi fish, and graceful ducks. The serene atmosphere and relaxing walk showcase the city’s commitment to preserving natural beauty.

Old San Diego, a compact park with attractions and steeped in California history, is a must-visit. Comprising five adobe buildings and museums, the cosmopolitan hotel and restaurant continues to operate. Serving as California’s birthplace, it offers a unique blend of history and culture. Despite its small size, Old San Diego has shops and restaurants, ensuring visitors can spend an entire day exploring. Whether you are an aficionado of history or simply seeking regional cuisine, this destination is deserving of a visit.

Exploring the parks surrounding San Diego necessitates time and effort. While walking through the parks immerses you in the exhibits, navigating the freeways connecting the parks can be arduous. Planning your itinerary in advance ensures a seamless experience. If walking is not your forte, drive through the iconic 59-mile scenic coastline, marveling at the landscape, dramatic cliffs, sunrise, or sunset. Alternatively, indulge in a day cruise or a dinner that offers a panoramic view of the bay. One end of the bay is the City’s high-rise buildings, passing through the historic Coronado Bridge. You’ll get to see the iconic Coronado Hotel. While Sailing you’ll see ships with historical importance & some still provides services to service men on duty.

  • Top Attractions at Balboa Park: Japanese Garden & More

San Diego: Balboa Park & Japanese Garden

This venue offers a diverse range of experiences. For garden enthusiasts, it is an ideal destination. I initially explored the Japanese garden, which provided me with a unique and serene experience of Japanese landscapes. The waterfalls cascaded into boulders, and the largest koi fish I have ever seen swam gracefully in the water. These vibrant creatures, adorned with orange, white, or spotted colors, created a breathtaking spectacle. The serene atmosphere was further enhanced by the presence of ducks that gracefully swam alongside the koi fish. The simple architecture of the Japanese bridges and buildings, imbued with historical significance in Japanese culture, added to the overall beauty of the place. As a photographer, I was captivated by its allure and managed to capture a multitude of images, from intricate Bonsai plants to charming bridges that connected to other gardens, each overlooking a meticulously manicured garden. This venue not only offers a diverse range of Japanese gardens but also encompasses a variety of other venues within the surrounding parks, inviting visitors to explore and discover its hidden gems.

If you are an enthusiast of museums, there are several worth visiting. Some are free, while others charge a small fee. Here are a few notable examples:

    * The Timken Museum of Art showcases a collection of arts and paintings.

    * Bilbao Park Garden features renowned manicured gardens.

    * The Mingei Museum showcases the creativity of humans through art.

    * The Botanical Garden Building houses a diverse array of plants. Each museum offers unique attractions.

I spent four hours exploring some of my interests in the area, but one could easily spend a day delving deeper into Balboa Park and the Japanese Garden, which offer a wealth of experiences.

The area is served by a regular tram, and there is a flat rate fee for adults to enter the Japanese Garden. Military and San Diego residents are eligible for free admission on certain scheduled days.

  • Explore Ireland’s Rich Heritage and Stunning Landscapes

    The Enchanting Allure of Ireland

Europe is celebrated for its historical ruins, showcasing a remarkable collection of architectural structures that have been meticulously preserved. It is also renowned for its significant contributions to archeological discoveries, which continue to yield valuable insights into the lives of individuals from various eras and across the globe.

This captivating allure has inspired me to explore several of the destinations I have had the opportunity to visit in Europe, and I believe that this knowledge may also be of interest to those who may have the chance to visit Europe in the future.

Ireland stands out as one of the most captivating destinations, offering a unique fusion of natural beauty and historical significance. From its rugged cliffs and picturesque landscapes to its prehistoric areas, religious sites, cemeteries, and prison cells, Ireland’s heritage is palpable in every corner. These preserved remnants, encompassing parks and other natural history sites, provide a rich and educational experience for both historians and local residents alike.

For those seeking a glimpse of Ireland’s vibrant nightlife before embarking on a journey to explore its breathtaking beauty, the city center offers an array of captivating options. One of the most popular venues is the “Temple Bar,” where live music is performed, and patrons are invited to join in with the singing and dancing. The lively atmosphere and engaging entertainment make it an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the vibrant nightlife.

Another iconic destination we encountered was the Cliff of Moher, but unfortunately, our visit was marred by inclement weather conditions, resulting in fog that obscured the view of the cliffs. A brighter day would have been ideal for fully appreciating the beauty of this natural wonder. Therefore, we strongly recommend planning a trip to the Cliff of Moher on a sunny day to ensure an optimal viewing experience.

Moving on, we visited Dingle Peninsula, located on Kerry Island, a vibrant port surrounded by breathtaking scenery. We meticulously planned a driving route to immerse ourselves in the coastal vistas. Additionally, we explored the ancient sites and ruins, which hold immense historical significance. During our stay in Dingle, we indulged in the lively local pubs, where we had the pleasure of listening to traditional Irish music.

Ireland boasts a vast expanse of land, comparable to the United States, making it challenging to encompass all its attractions within a single visit. Consequently, we made the decision to return for a second exploration or possibly third. The destinations we visited, while limited, represent the highlights of our trip. We are eager to return to Ireland, as it offers a plethora of experiences that make it a must-see destination.

  • Global Spirits & Local Wineries: A Tasting Adventure

Global Spirits & Local Wineries: A Tasting Adventure

Napa CA Wineries & Spirits Around the World

In the brevity of life, I am fortunate to reside in close proximity to diverse wine regions and wine tasting opportunities. Our winemaking heritage, dating back to the Gold Rush, continues to thrive with innovative techniques. During wine tastings, you can enjoy breathtaking views and, at times, participate in the variety of entertainment arrangements organized by the winery owners. Regardless of your palate, there is always something to savor. If you are not a wine enthusiast, a beer may be the preferred choice.

Enriching my collection of images are spirits from around the world, as I had the privilege of visiting some of the finest establishments during my travels. Ireland, renowned for its Stouts, and Edinburgh, celebrated for its Whiskey (though this spirit is too potent for my taste preferences) are among the highlights. Ultimately, our purpose is to savor life, and with moderation, we can truly make it the most fulfilling it can be.

If you are a local resident planning to explore the wineries in the area, Napa Valley offers a plethora of destinations and customized wine tours for tailored schedules. The city of Sonoma, conveniently located near Napa, also boasts breathtaking scenery. You have the option to enjoy picnics while savoring a glass of wine.

As previously mentioned, if you have traveled internationally, spirits are not in short supply. England, renowned for its beer and with a rich brewing history, boasts numerous bars serving beers throughout the day. Ireland, celebrated for its stouts, particularly the Guinness stout, which I personally tried and found to be exceptionally smooth, malty, and flavorful. While I am not an expert in beverages or a beer enthusiast, sampling local offerings occasionally is a part of my experience.

Visit my WebPage at https://maristrakerpixel.com to view more of my images taken during my travels locally from California, USA to Europe, as stated.

Churchill Arms, a renowned establishment in England, boasts an impeccably decorated interior and exterior. It serves traditional real ales and delectable Thai cuisine.

  • Exploring London’s Rich Culture and Landmarks

    London:The Place to be

London, a city that has captivated my heart on numerous occasions, continues to offer a unique and immersive experience. Despite visiting the city at least four times, I find myself constantly reminded of its allure, even when encountering familiar landmarks.

For those planning a visit to London, there are several must-see attractions that deserve a visit. Buckingham Palace, the iconic residence of the British monarch, is a must-see. Visitors can choose to explore the palace’s exterior, admire its gardens, or even pay to enter the King’s official home. However, it is important to note that tickets sell out quickly, and there is a cancellation fee in addition to the ticket cost. Tickets typically range from $40 and upwards.

The Changing of the Guard ceremony is a captivating spectacle that offers a glimpse into the traditions of the British monarchy. The ceremony commences at 11:00 AM and is free to attend. However, to secure a favorable view, it is advisable to plan in advance and find a suitable spot. Photographers should be cautious and mindful of the crowd, ensuring that their presence does not obstruct the parade.

In addition to Buckingham Palace, London boasts numerous other iconic landmarks, including Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, London Bridge, and many more. For those seeking a guided tour, there are numerous options available, particularly suitable for first-time visitors. A knowledgeable tour guide will provide insights into the city’s hidden gems, recommend local eateries, and suggest additional attractions. It is essential to wear comfortable walking shoes and appropriate attire for the tour.

Walking tours offer a convenient way to explore London’s rich history and culture. They provide a comprehensive overview of the city’s landmarks and attractions, ensuring that visitors gain a well-rounded understanding of London’s heritage.

London’s extensive metro and railway system, commonly referred to as “tube stations,” may initially appear overwhelming. However, once you experience the system, navigating it becomes relatively straightforward. Familiarizing yourself with the routes and destinations is crucial. Each station is equipped with a map, and the tube itself provides a map with arrows indicating the train’s direction and destination upon entry.

Prior to boarding, ensure you have a clear understanding of your destination and the names of the places you intend to visit. The train will announce your stops and destinations during the journey. With practice, navigating the tube becomes effortless.

Typically, purchasing a ticket is not necessary. Instead, contactless bank cards are widely accepted, and it is advisable to have an additional card for emergencies. This can be achieved by using the same card for both entering and exiting the tube. This procedure is completed at the entrance before boarding the train.

London’s diverse cultural heritage is evident in its culinary offerings. While there are numerous high-end restaurants, visiting the local market is a must-try experience, especially considering the food court.

Lastly, it is imperative to prioritize the safety of your valuables and avoid keeping them close to your body.

London offers a plethora of experiences, and I have only scratched the surface. I encourage you to explore more of this vibrant city.

  • Traveling with My Eyes Open: Part 1

In the forthcoming weeks, I will embark on a six-week vacation commencing in San Diego, California, USA. With this in mind, I have meticulously crafted my itinerary to explore various attractions.

San Diego offers a plethora of attractions, making it a destination I have visited repeatedly. Its rich cultural heritage, encompassing art, entertainment, and nightlife, is particularly captivating.

As the third-largest city in the United States, San Diego is renowned for its vibrant artistic scene and breathtaking beauty. For photographers, it presents an ideal opportunity to capture stunning landscapes.

My itinerary includes three highly recommended destinations:

    * Balboa Park: The oldest public park in the nation, Balboa Park is renowned for its meticulously tended gardens. These gardens showcase a diverse array of native plants, particularly the vibrant display of roses that promises to inspire numerous photographs. Additionally, the park houses museums of historical significance, including Spanish colonial revival architecture, and offers other scenic attractions that are sure to captivate visitors.

  • California: The Endless Summer State

Residing in California for many years, I decided to reflect on my photographic journey and compile my work. Upon revisiting my work, I am astounded by the beauty of our world and the immense fortune we possess. Despite residing in a small city, I am within an hour’s drive of the coastal shore, a few minutes’ drive away, and I can embark on hiking trails in a serene and picturesque backcountry. Alternatively, I can immerse myself in the wine country, savoring the finest wines. Within a two-hour drive, I can reach San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, and the city itself offers a captivating blend of architectural marvels, vibrant nightlife, and its own unique Fish Wharf area. The proximity of these destinations and photographic sites makes it unnecessary for me to venture far, as they are all within my immediate vicinity. This abundance of experiences and beauty is precisely what life should be.

  • Yosemite (Part 2)

    Yosemite National Park, California, USA

For nature enthusiasts, Yosemite National Park presents an exceptional destination. Renowned for its awe-inspiring landscape, the park boasts numerous waterfalls, with Yosemite Falls standing as the tallest waterfall in North America. However, the valley is home to many more distinct falls, including Upper Yosemite, Middle Cascades, and Lower Yosemite Falls.

I personally challenge myself by hiking one of the highest points in Yosemite National Park, the John Muir Trail, which traverses the renowned Mist Trail. This arduous hike features some paved sections but predominantly rugged terrain. As you approach Vernal Falls, you will encounter a wet and uneven stairway that necessitates caution due to its slippery nature. However, a guardrail provides support. The view from the falls is gratifying, yet the hike is undoubtedly challenging.

Upon reaching the summit of Vernal Falls, there is a rest area that provides exceptional photography opportunities from the elevated vantage point. However, the hike does not conclude there; it loops around, resulting in a total distance of approximately 6-7 miles. If one decides to proceed further, they may encounter additional challenges, but at that point, I had reached my physical limits and decided to return.

Other Falls around the park are as follows Bridal Veil Falls, Nevada Falls, Illilouette Falls, Wanamaker Falls, Chilnualna Falls, and Tuolumne Falls. These waterfalls provide breathtaking views and ample opportunities for photography.

The park also features viewing areas, such as Glacier Point, that offer panoramic vistas of the falls and the surrounding valley.

Despite its popularity, Yosemite National Park maintains a serene atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and photographers alike. The experience is truly rewarding, as you capture some of the most stunning images you have ever captured.

As you can tell I love this place. I consider this a photography paradise. To view my complete collection of my images go to Maristrakerpixel.com-Yosemitenationalpark

    Why do you blog?

Share my experiences through my lens. Through my images one can be transported to places I’ve been through and experience the elation I have at that moment in time. I get immersed into the time and moment I am in and imagine how it would be to share that feeling with someone.

Some of the photographs depict accomplishments that I had previously believed were unattainable. By sharing these images, I hope to inspire someone who may be struggling with self-doubt and believe they are incapable of achieving their goals. However, it is essential to maintain self-belief and confidence in one’s abilities.

This is the hike that I thought would never achieved but I did it!!! I am up top taking photos where I past through going up “Mist Trail” down the John Muir point via Clark Point (about 6-7 miles rugged trail).
