  • Why You Should Visit Maine: Lobster, Landscape, and Adventure

    Maine

Maine, the northeasternmost state in the United States, is renowned for its rugged coastline and natural splendor. It is home to Acadia National Park, a popular destination for both locals and tourists. My family and I made it a priority to visit this well-known national park.

Maine is the final state I visited for my foliage hunt, which I consider a resounding success. I completed the project I had set out to accomplish as a photographer and explored additional places that I had not planned to visit, such as museums, botanical gardens, churches, lakes, and covered bridges with historical significance.

Acadia National Park offers a variety of hiking trails for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced hikers and professionals. The Jordan Pond Trail, which my brother and I hiked around, is a popular choice. There are numerous other trails to explore within the park.

Whether you choose to walk around the lake, the bay, or a more challenging trail that leads to the summit overlooking the entire valley, there is something for everyone’s dream to fulfill during your visit to this magnificent park.

Maine is also famous for its lobster, so be sure to try this delicious dish if you happen to visit Bar Harbor. The town offers a wide selection of restaurants, ranging from large establishments to smaller, more intimate eateries, with prices varying depending on the dining experience.

In conclusion to my East Coast trip, I have accomplished my objectives and exceeded them. A trip is an experience, and given the adventure I had, I recommend meticulous planning if one is driving. This trip provided me with an insight that if I were to embark on a similar journey again, I would allocate more time to Maine. Maine offers a plethora of activities, and Acadia National Park stands out as a vast expanse that can be fully explored in a two-week stay. From scenic trails overlooking the Atlantic coast to the summit, there is an abundance of sights to behold. It is advisable to research and plan ahead, as some areas within the park require reservations. Additionally, shuttle buses operate within the park’s schedule, so it is crucial to be aware of the destinations and their respective times.

  • Exploring Massachusetts’ Fall Foliage: A Personal Journey

    Massachusetts, The Bay State

Despite being on vacation, I find myself experiencing a sense of homesickness. Nevertheless, I am resolute in my determination to embark on my Foliage hunt, which is progressing satisfactorily. As I travel, I have increasingly encountered vibrant fall foliage. This project, which I had intended to undertake during my travels, has become a source of solace, as the splendor of the autumn foliage effectively mitigates my homesickness.

Massachusetts, renowned for its extensive historical heritage, museums, cultural landmarks, and picturesque Atlantic coastline, offers a captivating destination for visitors. A highly recommended attraction is the Norman Rockwell Museum, which showcases a remarkable collection of original artistic works within its grounds. Visitors and guests have the option to pay a nominal fee to enter the museum or explore the grounds at no cost. During my visit, I was fortunate to witness the breathtaking autumn foliage, which stands out as one of the most magnificent displays I have encountered. The scenic area surrounding the museum provides a serene retreat, featuring towering trees that cascade over a tranquil lake. This picturesque setting offers an ideal opportunity to relax, unwind, and immerse oneself in the natural beauty of the region. This is the most breathtaking foliage scenery I have ever encountered by far during my trip. Additionally, I had the opportunity to admire the original artworks of Norman Rockwell, each piece of which I carefully examined and appreciated.

Berkshire Botanical Garden is a must-visit destination due to its proximity to the Norman Rockwell Museum and its exceptional offerings. It serves as an ideal destination for individuals interested in landscape gardening, providing valuable insights into the design and cultivation of plantations. Additionally, the garden offers a serene ambiance, making it an excellent location for capturing photographs of loved ones amidst natural surroundings. A leisurely stroll through the grounds allows visitors to admire the vibrant flowers and lush plantations. Furthermore, the fall foliage provides a breathtaking spectacle, showcasing the vibrant colors of the trees and plants. It is important to note that there is a nominal entrance fee associated with accessing the garden.

Monuments Mountain: Resolved to capture the optimal foliage photograph, I embarked on a hike to the summit of the monument mountain. My brother and I opted for the intermediate trail, having some prior hiking experience. The ascent was a 3-mile, unpaved, and steep walk, presenting a moderate challenge. However, the exertion was rewarded with a breathtaking view from the summit. The majestic and awe-inspiring panorama was exhilarating, and I find it difficult to articulate the sheer elation of the experience.

This was also my first opportunity to observe a black bear from a distance. Naturally, my camera was eager to capture this remarkable creature while respecting its territory. Unfortunately, I was only able to partially capture the bear’s image.

In summary, Massachusetts has provided me with an unforgettable experience that I will cherish forever. From the vibrant foliage to the captivating museum, and the awe-inspiring encounter with the black bear, I am deeply grateful for the wonderful experience you have bestowed upon me.

  • Ultimate Fall Foliage Road Trip Guide

    Fall Foliage Treasure

For the first time, I am dedicating myself fully to preparing for this trip. Initially, Google AI assisted me in identifying the peak foliage along the eastern coast. Although I am uncertain about my timing, I have committed to a month-long stay, and the website indicates that the fall foliage peaks occur from late September to mid-October. Consequently, my timing is optimal, and I am optimistic about the experience.

My journey involves a lengthy drive from Maryland to New Jersey, where I will spend a day. Subsequently, I will proceed to Connecticut, embarking on a guided tour of the Essex train and steam. This tour offers a panoramic view of the picturesque landscape of Connecticut.

Moving on to Rhode Island, I have decided to extend my stay as recommended by Google AI. Rhode Island, the smallest state in the United States located in New England, is aptly referred to as the “Ocean State” due to its extensive coastline. The capital city is Providence, and the state is renowned for its maritime history and the historic mansions in Newport.

Rhode Island offers a diverse range of attractions, including state parks, charming beaches, panoramic harbor views, natural beauty, lighthouses, mansions, museums, and guided tours on land and sea. Recognizing the abundance of offerings, I have chosen to extend my stay in Rhode Island to allow for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Proceeding to Berkshire, Massachusetts, a city renowned for its cultural attractions and picturesque townscape. Massachusetts boasts a scenic portion of the Appalachian Mountain system, encompassing Mount Greylock, the highest elevation within the state. This majestic peak promises to provide an unparalleled photographic backdrop.

En route to Kancamagus Highway, renowned for its 34.5-mile scenic Byway, I anticipate encountering its rich history, captivating natural beauty, and the elusive “Fall Foliage” treasure. This destination boasts majestic landscapes, picturesque views, hiking trails, cascading waterfalls, and the awe-inspiring Rocky Gorge, among many other attractions.

In my online research, I identified several reputable accommodations with scenic bedroom views, ranging in price from $200 and up to $2,000. Many of these establishments offer complimentary breakfast and/or restaurant access. Notably, all of the accommodations I selected offer complimentary parking and Wi-Fi connections. Depending on your budget and preferences, there are numerous options available.

After conducting thorough research, I have identified several parks that provide complimentary parking and free admission. However, other parks impose a nominal fee. These findings were obtained through online research, and with this information in mind, I am confident that I will have a smooth and enjoyable trip.

Would you follow the route that I have undertaken? I trust you will. If you are reading this, I hope it will be of assistance in your foliage plan trip. I will be posting much of the images taken as I travel on my website @ maristrakerpixel.com

  • Yosemite (Part 2)

    Yosemite National Park, California, USA

For nature enthusiasts, Yosemite National Park presents an exceptional destination. Renowned for its awe-inspiring landscape, the park boasts numerous waterfalls, with Yosemite Falls standing as the tallest waterfall in North America. However, the valley is home to many more distinct falls, including Upper Yosemite, Middle Cascades, and Lower Yosemite Falls.

I personally challenge myself by hiking one of the highest points in Yosemite National Park, the John Muir Trail, which traverses the renowned Mist Trail. This arduous hike features some paved sections but predominantly rugged terrain. As you approach Vernal Falls, you will encounter a wet and uneven stairway that necessitates caution due to its slippery nature. However, a guardrail provides support. The view from the falls is gratifying, yet the hike is undoubtedly challenging.

Upon reaching the summit of Vernal Falls, there is a rest area that provides exceptional photography opportunities from the elevated vantage point. However, the hike does not conclude there; it loops around, resulting in a total distance of approximately 6-7 miles. If one decides to proceed further, they may encounter additional challenges, but at that point, I had reached my physical limits and decided to return.

Other Falls around the park are as follows Bridal Veil Falls, Nevada Falls, Illilouette Falls, Wanamaker Falls, Chilnualna Falls, and Tuolumne Falls. These waterfalls provide breathtaking views and ample opportunities for photography.

The park also features viewing areas, such as Glacier Point, that offer panoramic vistas of the falls and the surrounding valley.

Despite its popularity, Yosemite National Park maintains a serene atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and photographers alike. The experience is truly rewarding, as you capture some of the most stunning images you have ever captured.

As you can tell I love this place. I consider this a photography paradise. To view my complete collection of my images go to Maristrakerpixel.com-Yosemitenationalpark
